Construction of luxury homes to start May 2012 (planning now granted).
Keeper’s Court forms a corner of the Oaks Hamlet luxury homes scheme. It has been redesigned to offer primarily detached two-storey family homes in response to current market demand. We have taken the opportunity to produce a very distinctive sub-neighbourhood community, next to one of the main access points to the Country Park, with the character of a converted group of barns. The design of these luxury homes remains very much in the Kentish vernacular with rustic bricks and weatherboarding but with detailing in a more exciting contemporary rather than pastiche vein and similar in many ways to the Sissinghurst and Lamberhurst family homes already built at Oaks Hamlet.
The design of these contemporary homes has also followed an exercise to compare our product with that offered on the continent, concluding that our modern homes should be up to the best continental standards with particular emphasis on flexibility of space, low maintenance, community and energy-efficiency. As such, these luxury homes will be constructed to a completely new Environ luxury homes specification that will not be matched by any of the other modern homes currently being offered at Kings Hill. Full details of the specifications of these contemporary homes will be released at a later date.
However, to provide just a flavour, these luxury homes will have open-plan ground floors with full height pocket doors that have been such a success at the modern homes at Oaks Hamlet. This means that the layout can be sub-divided into private spaces as the need arises. Each contemporary home will have a kitchen that provides an eating as well as a seating area – a real family space to promote lifestyle living.
Noise between floors and rooms will be carefully considered as in continental, contemporary homes and we will continue to use our popular thick and solid internal doors for this reason. Every luxury home should be capable of having quiet areas and, for this reason, even washing machines will be located in a sound-proof utility pod.
The modern, energy-efficient homes will have large windows offering plenty of light with a glazing specification that is heat-efficient. Heating will be either under floor or warm air using heat exchangers. Whichever is chosen, we aim to keep gas and electricity bills to the minimum as a reaction to the ever increasing energy costs, offering you sustainable living.
Staircases will be contemporary, continental-style open-tread in oak and will be a feature of each luxury home. Above the staircases will be a cathedral ceiling giving a real 'wow' factor. Sitting Rooms will have contemporary fire-places with full provision for wall-mounted flat screen televisions. The sleek kitchens will be provided by the French manufacture Pyram and bathrooms will be designed to be minimalist but functional with plenty of storage for lifestyle living.
Externally, these luxury homes homes are designed to be ultra low-maintenance with windows, boarding and galvanised gutters and downpipes that do not require painting. Wooden decks will form outside eating areas overlooking the landscape gardens with easy connection to the kitchen.
The landscape gardens themselves will form a space that feels as though it is an extension to the contemporary home, taking advantage of the large expanses of glass. With modern day densities, gardens do get squeezed and it is for this reason that Keeper’s Court will be the first Environ scheme that has been designed with landscape gardens for all ages from toddlers upwards. The landscape gardens will allow a wide variety of play and entertainment in a safe, secure and beautiful space with the emphasis again on low maintenance. Look out for the exciting concepts soon to be released.
It is also the philosophy that all of our modern homes should be “turn key”, meaning that we include everything that is needed including luxury oak flooring, carpeting, wardrobes, fireplaces, landscaped gardens etc. In fact we offer all the extras that you normally have to purchase and arrange after the purchase and that normally end up causing stress and delay. So from day one you can just sit back, relax and revel in your choice of luxury, energy-efficient home with its beautiful landscape garden and concentrate on getting to know the community.
